I am an Associate Professor at the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department, at University of North Texas (UNT). I received NSF CAREER Award<\/strong> in Computer Network Systems (CNS\/CSR) in 2021 and I am the director of High Performance Cloud Computing laboratory (HPCC lab<\/a>) at the school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My research team concentrates on developing the next generation of Cloud Computing systems, known as Cloud 2.0<\/strong>; These clouds will be AI-friendly, serverless, domain-specific, and truly distributed (either across the Edge-to-Cloud Continuum or multi-clouds). Our goal is to innovate in the forefront of scientific discovery and build intelligent Cloud 2.0 platforms that can improve human’s life and make the world a better place to live!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to joining UNT in August 2023, I was an Associate and Assistant Professor at University of Louisiana Lafayette (since 2014) and before that, I was a post-doctoral associate at the\u00a0Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering<\/a>\u00a0at University of Miami (2013-2014), and at Colorado State University respectively (2012-2013). I have completed my PhD at the\u00a0Cloud Computing and Distributed Systems<\/a>\u00a0(CLOUDS) Laboratory, at\u00a0Melbourne University<\/a>, Australia, under the supervision of Professor\u00a0Rajkumar Buyya<\/a>. My PhD\u00a0thesis<\/a>\u00a0was on resource allocation based on Virtual Machine preemption in distributed systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have completed my Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Software Engineering at Ferdowsi University<\/a> (2006) and Azad University of Mashhad<\/a> (2003), respectively. From 2006 to 2008, I was a lecturer at the Computer Software Engineering department<\/a>, at Azad University of Mashhad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
