I am an Associate Professor at the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department, at University of North Texas (UNT). I received NSF CAREER Award in Computer Network Systems (CNS/CSR) in 2021 and I am the director of High Performance Cloud Computing laboratory (HPCC lab) at the school.
My research team concentrates on developing the next generation of Cloud Computing systems, known as Cloud 2.0; These clouds will be AI-friendly, serverless, domain-specific, and truly distributed (either across the Edge-to-Cloud Continuum or multi-clouds). Our goal is to innovate in the forefront of scientific discovery and build intelligent Cloud 2.0 platforms that can improve human’s life and make the world a better place to live!
Prior to joining UNT in August 2023, I was an Associate and Assistant Professor at University of Louisiana Lafayette (since 2014) and before that, I was a post-doctoral associate at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Miami (2013-2014), and at Colorado State University respectively (2012-2013). I have completed my PhD at the Cloud Computing and Distributed Systems (CLOUDS) Laboratory, at Melbourne University, Australia, under the supervision of Professor Rajkumar Buyya. My PhD thesis was on resource allocation based on Virtual Machine preemption in distributed systems.
I have completed my Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Software Engineering at Ferdowsi University (2006) and Azad University of Mashhad (2003), respectively. From 2006 to 2008, I was a lecturer at the Computer Software Engineering department, at Azad University of Mashhad.
